Document Delivery (Formerly Interlibrary Loan)
Materials unavailable at University of the West Library may be borrowed from other libraries through document delivery. Materials will be available for pickup at the circulation desk or emailed to your registered email address.How to use the Document Delivery Service?
Check the Uwest catalog to make sure UWest does not own the material you want. You will need to log on to your account to fill out the form electronically. You will be able to see the progress of your request(s) in your library account. How much does it cost?
We will always make every attempt to obtain material at no cost to you. 80% of the time, the request is free. Sometimes, the lending library will charge a fee. You will be notified via email and if you agree to pay, we will initiate the request.If fees are involved, it is payable upon receipt of material. Transactions cannot be canceled once initiated. Fees generally range from $15-$30 per item.
How many requests may I submit?
You may request up to 5 document delivery requests per week.How long does it take?
On the average, allow 2-3 weeks from the date of request. If the material is readily available in a library with which the library has a special arrangement, it may be available sooner. If the library has to go to more than one location for the material, it will take longer.How long can I keep it?
Generally, you may keep the book up to 3 weeks. It differs depending on the lending library. Renewals/no renewals will be indicated on the book. If you want to renew, you must contact the library staff before the due date indicated in the book.Interlibrary Lending
For libraries that wish to borrow a book from the UWest library, please send an email request to: library@uwest.edu.Include the following info:
* Name of the authorizing staff person
* For non-US requests, please list maximum allowable cost. US requests are generally free.
* Complete and clear delivery address
* Bibliographic citation, with each element individually labeled.
